The girls and I had done a heap of activities in and around town, so it was time to get out of the Prince of Wales Bay Marina and make our way south. We planned to spend the night anchored at Kingston, just south of Hobart, then continue on to Recherche Bay the next day. Just a few minutes out of the marina, the salt-water pump on the engine threw the belt off! So, we sailed into New Town Bay and anchored while Heather and I put the belt back on. Motoring out of the bay and all seemed fine, so we sailed to Kingston then started the engine again to manoeuvre to a good anchoring spot, and the belt came off the pump again. A closer inspection found the pump shaft was wobbling- not good... I called Tim, who had helped me out before and arranged to meet him at Bellerive Marina. An hour and a half tacking upwind in a fresh breeze got us there in good time for Tim to assess our predicament. Long story short, he had a new salt-water pump fitted 24 hours later and we headed to Kettering. The next day we made it to Cockle creek and spent two nights there waiting for the weather to be more favourable to get around to Port Davey.
