Join me on an unexpected New Year's Day adventure! 🌄🇨🇭 What started as a scenic trip around Lake Como in Italy quickly turned into a spontaneous border crossing into Switzerland. Drawn by the stunning lakeside charm, I ended up in the beautiful town of Lugano right on New Year's Day! The town was surprisingly quiet and mostly shut down, so I decided to chase the best views instead. I took the famous funicular up to the summit of Monte San Salvatore (912m / 2,992 ft) for epic 360° panoramic vistas over Lake Lugano, the surrounding Alps, and even glimpses toward the Lombardy plains. While the scenery was absolutely breathtaking, a crystal-clear lake, snow-dusted mountains, and that classic Ticino beauty, the winter light on January 1st was challenging. Flat, overcast skies made photography tricky, but the raw, serene atmosphere made it unforgettable. Come and say hello.
