Kawah Ijen (Mount Ijen) Adventure | Witnessing Blue Flames & Sunrise Above the Acid Crater lake. This video is about my unforgettable Kawah Ijen (Mount Ijen) trip, and in fact, I climbed Mount Ijen at 2am with a trolley. My Kawah Ijen journey has been on my bucket list for years. I’ve always been fascinated by the stunning beauty of the world’s largest acidic crater lake, and the mysterious blue flames that make this place so unique. But I hesitated for a long time too. The steep trails and the physical strength required to reach the top made me put it off again and again. Eventually, I discovered online that there’s actually an option to take a trolley ride up the volcano, with the help of local porters. That gave me the push I needed — so I planned a two-day trip to Banyuwangi and finally fulfilled this long-time dream. On Day 1, I went to the sunrise viewpoint at the summit. The weather was absolutely perfect that morning, and I was lucky enough to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen. On Day 2, I made my way down an 800-meter trail to reach the area where the famous blue flames appear. The path was very challenging, but the view of the glowing blue fire was everything I had hoped for — absolutely unforgettable. However, climbing back up from the blue flame area really tested my limits. I’m not someone who exercises regularly, so it felt pretty intense for me. This trip to Kawah Ijen was truly amazing — even perfect, in a way. But I have to be honest: without the help of the trolley porters, I don’t think I could’ve done it on my own. Just that 800-meter path to the blue flames alone was almost beyond what I could physically handle. Time doesn’t wait for anyone, and I’m realizing that maybe it’s time to slow down a little. From now on, I think I’ll take it easier and avoid overly adventurous trips — it’s better to travel within my limits.
