The steps leading to the dining hall used to be nothing more than a dirt path. Yangjin went to the flower market to buy wood-grain cement tiles. She didn’t have a specific place in mind—she simply felt, “We’ll be able to use these,” and brought them back to the valley. Back in the valley, she laid the tiles directly onto the old earth steps. But the moment we stepped on them, one snapped into two pieces. The problem appeared fast—and the solution came fast too: secure them with cement. With cement and tools available at a nearby construction site, everyone jumped in. Mixing cement, laying tiles—we moved forward one tile at a time. The beautiful part is this: these steps can be built into exactly nine levels. So we linked them to Guru Rinpoche’s Nine Yanas—the nine levels of Buddhist practice on the path to enlightenment. Starting from the step beneath our feet: making the path steady, and settling the mind. As each level took shape, more and more hands joined in. From a muddy dirt path to neat stone steps—seeing the road we built with our own hands filled us with a grounded sense of accomplishment. Dharma is everywhere. A pure land is something we create for ourselves. May everyone who walks this “Nine Yanas” path—may bodhi blossom, and may realization be complete. #DharmaInDailyLife #NineYanas #GuruRinpoche #ValleyLife #MountainLife #BuildingSteps #DIY #CommunityBuild #Mindfulness #ChiangMai #Thailand #DocumentaryVlog
