It was named after American Governor Luke E. Wright and opened as a leisure space. It is located nearby The Mansion. The horses are kept and managed by "pony boys," who are frequently members of the Ibaloi tribe. Governor-General James Francis Smith insisted on building the Mansion House in 1908 to serve as the official summer house of the American Governor-General of the Philippines. It was named after William Cameron Forbes's holiday residence in New England, where he succeeded as Governor-General in 1909. The mountain retreat was constructed by architect William E. Parsons in accordance with the City Beautiful Movement's principles, based on preliminary plans by architect Daniel H. Burnham, Baguio's city planner. The Second Philippine Legislature held its three-week session in The Mansion House in 1910.
