I had the day of November 3rd off, so I decided to see what was going on on the BNSF La Junta Subdivision. Not even five minutes after we showed up to the yard, a Herzog Work Train with a BNSF SD70ACe leading creeps through the siding at BNSF's Way Yard. At the back was an HZGX SD60M, and a rebuilt GP unit. These GP units are nicknamed "Yellow Critters". After KO HUTKO completed their work at the yard, they stopped for a brief moment to set a switch at the wye. After doing so, they proceeded up to the SSW Diamond, where they had to wait a couple hours for welding to be completed. WAMX 4010, an Ex-CN GP40-2LW, was in the lead for today's local. As of this video's upload, it is the only CN painted GP40-2LW on the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad. Once BNSF Y-HUT1011 built their consist for the gas racks, they too had to wait for the welders to complete their work. After the welding crew's warrant expired, the Gas Local was permitted to head to South Hutchinson, KS. The local was led west by BNSF 1935, an SD40-2 still wearing its BN paint scheme. They were followed by the aforementioned KO HUTKO. They stopped yet again, this time to allow the conductor to walk back to the head end. Finally, we headed up to the UP Herington Subdivision to document the cleanup of a derailment from the night prior. Hope you all enjoy this one! Copyright ©WestboundWarbonnet. All Rights Reserved.
