The Kayan (longneck) hill tribe are world famous, but nobody knows their stories. They and other Karenni subgroups (that fled from Myanmar because of the civil war) have so many interesting stories to tell and valuable skills to share with travellers! Huay Pu Keng has made the transition from show village towards community-based tourism (CBT), so that tourism can empower them! Fair Tourism is a non-profit foundation in the Netherlands that raises awareness about sustainable tourism (for example, by giving workshops at educational institutions) and assists communities in developing CBT, like the Karenni people in Thailand.
