Myst III: Exile - an underrated and forgotten gem in the crown of the Myst Saga, one that easily rivals Riven for one of the best games in the series depending on which fan you ask. Exile first released in 2001 on 3 CD-ROM disks, controversially for the time. It also brought the series into the future with new technological advancements. It expertly weaves and crafts a story about a desperate man and the lengths the player must go in their struggle against him. Despite its brightly colored Ages, it darkly mirrors Myst and Riven so perfectly as a sort of bitter and even frightening reflection of both, taking the best from both while adding a sinister new cinematic twist to the Myst formula. And yet, it's lesser known than the first two games. Why? In this one, we're discussing the darkness, characters, and craftsmanship of Myst III: Exile, my favorite game in the Myst Saga - and how exactly that works to helplessly trap us in a perfect place to plan revenge. Part of my Myst Saga retrospective series and paired with my Myst Saga replays over on my main channel, @ThePhantomSafetyPin.
