Cavalier Puppy Livestream: Potty Training, Puppy Mash, and Moving into the Puppy Pen!

Good morning, friends and families! We hope you are doing well on this rainy Tuesday morning! Despite remaining 100% nutritionally dependent on Mom, this is a good time to introduce "solids" or "puppy mash." We give our pups a tasty blend of puppy kibble, mama's milk, and a couple eggs, blended to a consistency safe for them to eat. They don't yet have teeth so it begins liquid-y and mushy, but we will advance them as developmentally appropriate. The puppies are 3 weeks old and we need to evolve our potty training methods to meet their developmental needs. Their new mobility and eyesight, though limited, combined with their recent ability to potty without Mom's stimulation, makes this the right time to place a [small] potty tray in their pool. Since they can get to their desired destinations independently, we want the pellets to be available to them when they feel the need to potty. We will continue to potty them in their tray because reinforcement and consistency are essential for successful potty training. Mom still potties them, but you will see us frequently remind them to take potty breaks in the pellets. The blanket we have lining the pool is waterproof and we use towels to help collect accidents (which we frequently swap out).
