In this video, we take a look at some of the key specs from the new Canon R3 and the previous canon flagship camera, the Canon 1dx Mark. Physical Size and weight are the most obvious differences between the R3 and 1D X Mark III. As a mirrorless camera, the R3 is lighter and more compact. Another major difference is the flip-out LCD screen, the RF mount, and the r3 has only one slot for SD cards and one for CF express cards, compared to the 1DX's two CF express card slots. Sensor The r3 has the same processor as the 1dx, but the r3 features a stacked backside illuminated CMOS sensor. As a result, the low light performance is reportedly better than the 1dxMK3. In addition to its improved low-light performance, the r3's new sensor offers 24.1 megapixels compared to the 1dxmk3's 20.1 megapixels. ISO The r3's ISO range is smaller than the 1dx's. Canon's 1D X Mark III runs from ISO 100 to ISO 102,400, which can be expanded to ISO 819,200. While the Canon R3 has the same normal range, but can only be extended to 204,800. Video recording The R3 also takes a big jump in its video recording abilities. You can now record up to 6k 60fps and 4k 120fps internally. While the 1DX can only record up to 5k raw at 60fps and full HD at 120 frames per second. Another plus for the R3 is that you can now continuously record up to six hours of regular video or 1.5 hours at high frame rates. IBIS The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III doesn't feature an in-body stabilization system, instead it relies on the lens to supply it if available. With the r3, you will be able to use the 5-axis In-Body Image Stabilizer in conjunction with the optical Image Stabilizer in selected RF lenses to achieve the highest level of stabilization. Focusing The R3 uses a "next generation" version of Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which offers better tracking and focusing than the 1dx. It also features tracking modes for different shooting situations. Lastly, the R3 has eye control AF. This allows you to select the AF point simply by looking at it through the viewfinder! Continues shooting. The Canon EOS-1D X Mark III can capture images at up to 20fps in live view or 16fps with the viewfinder. In contrast, the R3 can shoot at 30fps with the electronic shutter, but only 12fps with its mechanical shutter, versus 20fps on the 1DX. Conclusion The new R3 and the 1DX both share a similar, visual profile how ever It seems that Canon are taking things to another level with the R3, especially thanks to the new sensor, 6K video, vari-angle screen, the IBIS, and a more advance auto-focusing system.
