And the biggest news in the radio world this week, the FCC has sent a mean letter to a mister Robert Delgado, of Chicago Ridge, Illinois, for operating a CB radio in violation of FCC rules. The mean letter alleges that the FCC had received complaints of one-way broadcasts and music being played on CB radio channel 19. The letter then goes on to allege that an FCC agent used directing finding techniques to track the source of the offending transmissions to Mr. Delgado's residence where FCC agents determined that it was he who was making these transmissions, in violation of FCC rules. The mean letter, officially known as a Notice of Unlicensed Operation, goes on to warn Mr. Delgado that his actions violate FCC rules and if these actions continue, he could be subject to more severe penalties. The letter then goes on to demand that Mr. Delgado discontinue these actions immediately and that he must respond to the mean letterer within 10 days. The letter, dated February 26 of this year is not Mr. Delgado's first brush with the FCC. In February of 2018 the FCC sent him a similar mean letter for transmitting on amateur radio frequencies without an amateur radio license, also demanding that he respond to the accusations in writing within 10 days of receipt of that first letter. After receiving the second mean letter, there have unsubstantiated reports that Mr. delgado was overheard saying "I guess I'll try GMRS next". And now for the FCC Enforcement roundup. Here is the breakdown of what the FCC got up to in the month of February 2026: The FCC sent a mean letter to the owner of owner of a commercial antenna in Michigan for paint and lighting violations. They sent a mean letter to a business in Montana, for using Business LMR frequencies without a FCC Business LMR license from the FCC. They sent a mean letter to a commercial radio station in Hawaii for spurious radio emissions greater than 600 KHz away from their fundamental transmitting frequency. They sent a mean letter to a hotel, also in Hawaii, for using Business LMR frequencies with an expired FCC Business LMR license. They proposed a $188,000 fine against a company for failing to timely submit the contact information for each of its subsidiaries and affiliates. They issued 5 orders, advisories, settlements, or Consent Decrees, for various business matters, actions and proceedings. As reported earlier, the FCC sent a mean letter to a CB radio operator in Chicago for playing music on CB radio channel 19. And the part that you've all been waiting for. The grand total of fines and jail-sentences imposed by the FCC for CB radio, GMRS, and amateur radio operators violating FCC rules for the entire month of February was ...
