In his book 5 Lessons, Ben Hogan said "If you want to teach a child to open a door, you don't show them the open door and say "See there it is" , you show them how to open the door " As a golfer you don't get the lines on the ground or the definition of the "court" or "field" always being the same size. So it is upon the player to define their own space to play in. Importantly that means you have to define the space and environment with you and the club that you play from.
