FMG Brainstorming on Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement of the WTO

On July 27 2023, the Friends of Multilateralism Group (FMG) organized an online brainstorming session on the Investment Facilitation for Development (IFD) Agreement of the WTO. Cristián Rodríguez-Chiffelle, Senior Advisor in Boston Consulting’s Group Global Advantage practice moderated this session. H.E. Sofia Boza, Ambassador of Chile to the WTO and the co-coordinator of IFD Agreement; Ms. Yihong Li, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the WTO shared their insights on the momentous achievements of the IFD Agreement, the challenges it still faces and the future way forward. Hamid Mamdouh, FMG member and former Director of the Trade in Services and Investment Division of the WTO; James Zhan, Friend of FMG (FFMG) and senior director of investment and enterprise at UNCTAD shared their comments as discussants. Nearly 50 participants joined the session, including members of FMG, Ambassadors/DPRs of WTO members, Directors of WTO divisions, representatives from related international organizations, and experts from renowned think tanks and universities etc.
