Verbascum, commonly known as Mullein is a genus of flowering plants native to Europe and Asia, prized for their tall flower spikes and fuzzy foliage. They are often hardy, drought-tolerant biennials that thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, producing blooms in a variety of colors from yellow and white to pink and lavender. The flowers bloom between May and September and attract pollinators Mullein looks spectacular in its second and final year those beautiful 2 metre(yard) rods of yellow flowers. but what can you use it for - light weight walking sticks? Before this final seed head moment the flowers are edible so to are the leaves but not great tasting. Careful with the hairs too, can be an irritation to the skin the trichome (hairs) can strangely also be irritating in the plants first year of growth. Why strangely ?
