The Montecristo - Edicion Limitada 2016 Dantes was the last of the LTD-ED series for 2016. I waited and held out for this one, mainly because it was larger and hey....its Montecristo! This vitola has a length of 6,1/2" (165 mm) and a ring gauge of 48. The name for this size is called the "Hermosos No.1". The name "Dantes" comes from the character's name Edmond Dantes of the great 1844 adventure book "The Count of Monte Cristo" (as do alot of the brands line up) by Author Alexander Dumas, who also wrote "The Three Muskateers". Habanos S.A introduced the Limited Edition (Edicion Limitada) series in 2000 for their more premium brands, and uses certain vitolas that are not in current production. At first the wrappers were the only part of the cigars that had 2yrs of ageing on them and used from the upper portion of the plant. Because the leaves came from the upper portion of the plant, the sugar content was alot higher and produced a darker wrapper. In 2007, that all changed when they started to use tobacco that was aged for 2yrs for the wrapper, binder and filler. Thanks for watching! JJ [email protected]
