First stop Suomenlinna: Sea fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built over a period of three centuries, Suomenlinna is nowadays a unique residential district of Helsinki and a popular tourist destination. The military architecture of the six fortified islands recounts the history of the Kingdom of Sweden, the Russian Empire and the Republic of Finland. Second day: We spent half day in the free tour around the city to have an idea of its great hystory. We started in the Helsinki Cathedral square where most of the tours starts. Sibelius Park: Sibelius Park is a famous attraction in Helsinki, Finland, to commemorate the famous composer Sibelius. It is located on the western shore of Helsinki and easy to reach, and the number of visitors that come here every year is incredible. The organlike cluster of steel pipes is said to represent the forest. This kinetic modern sculpture was created by artist Eila Hiltunen in 1967 to honour Finland's most famous composer, Jean Sibelius. Appropriately for a monument to a composer, the sculpture creates its own music - the hollow stainless-steel pipes echo with the movement of the wind. Temppeliaukio Church: This church is one of the must-see places we recommend you visit if you travel to Helsinki. Every year it receives about a million visits from tourists who want to go inside the rock church. To save the large rock in the centre of the square, architects Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen chose to design the church in such a way that its interior is carved out of the rock itself. Helsinki's Market Square, or Kauppatori, is a bustling hub of activity. Located by the harbor, it offers a mix of local culture, food, and history. Whether you're a tourist or a local, there's always something new to experience. Salmon Soup: A creamy, hearty soup made with fresh salmon, potatoes, and leeks. Perfect for warming up on a chilly day. Reindeer Meat: Try reindeer in various forms, from sausages to steaks. It's a unique taste of Finnish cuisine. Lohikeitto: Another popular salmon dish, this soup is lighter and often served with a slice of rye bread. Karjalanpiirakka: These rice-filled pastries are a Finnish staple. Often enjoyed with egg butter, they're a must-try. Hotel Torni is a historical hotel located in Kamppi, Helsinki, Finland, and a part of the Sokos Hotels hotel chain. When opened in 1931, it became the tallest building in Finland, a position it maintained until the completion of the new Neste headquarters in neighboring Espoo in 1976. From here you will have best views from the entire city. And finally we departed to Rovaniemi, Lapland to visit Santa Claus village and look for the northen lights.
