Hey everybody, welcome back to Mike's Philippine Retirement. In this live stream I want to tell you about one of the most uncomfortable and honestly frightening travel experiences I've had here in the Philippines. What should have been a simple four-hour ferry ride turned into six and a half hours in rough seas that had the entire boat rocking and rolling. The trip started in Cebu City, headed to Bohol, and eventually on toward Dumaguete. Normally these ferry rides are routine. Thousands of people take them every day between the islands. But this day was different. The sea was rough… the boat was pitching hard… and for a while there I honestly thought this might not end well. I’ll talk about: • What the conditions were like on the ferry • What it feels like when the waves start hitting hard • Why the trip took 2.5 hours longer than expected • What people on the boat were doing during the storm • And whether I would take that ferry ride again Living in the Philippines means traveling between islands, and most of the time ferry trips are perfectly safe.
