(00:00:00) The long life puja is not only for Lama Zopa Rinpoche, but for everyone who receives a Dharma connection. It becomes a long life puja for the practitioners themselves. (00:07:00) Long life puja begins. (02:18:18) Rinpoche explains how the organization and centers like Lama Tsongkhapa Institute benefit sentient beings, not only relieving them from their suffering temporarily, but by offering teachings, guiding them in lamrim and Vajrayana, connecting them to qualified gurus, and clearly leading them to enlightenment. Rinpoche mentions that the main reason teaching Dharma is to pacify the cause of the sufferings and to bring sentient beings to liberation. (03:10:22) Rinpoche tells about how FPMT educational programs started. (03:19:05) Rinpoche expresses his gratitude to Geshe Jampa Gyatso for his many years of patient teaching and care in Italy, guiding students like a father and mother. His profound knowledge of sutra and tantra benefits countless sentient beings here and beyond. Rinpoche thanks Geshe Tenpel, assistant teachers, translators, and all the staff whose dedication supports Lama Tsongkhapa Institute and its programs. (03:49:25) Long life puja continues. (04:52:00) Request from European centers for Rinpoche to teach each year. (05:08:05) Rinpoche updates on the Maitreya project progress and suggests making the Lama Tsongkhapa gold-painted thangka very large, like the big ones used in Tibetan festivals where many people gather to make offerings and collect merit. This could become an annual event at the center, inviting local people to connect with Dharma through pujas and cultural offerings. Different artistic styles are possible, and a large thangka displayed yearly would greatly benefit the community. Rinpoche also mentions that it would be beneficial to build a nine-story Lama Tsongkhapa statue and a large Maitreya Buddha statue in Italy. Building big Maitreya statues is said to help shorten future periods of suffering like war, sickness, and famine before Maitreya’s descent. The plan is to build 1,000 large statues worldwide, and having one in Italy would be very meaningful if karma and merit allow. This teaching was given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche at Lama Tsonkhapa Institute in Italy as part of the Ganden Lha Gyama retreat between September 3-30, 2004.
