Dreams, whether they be in our waking imaginations or our sleeping subconscious, inevitably shape the concrete reality of our lives. Some say what makes us human is our ability to dream up a future that is yet to come. For some lucky few, the dreams to which they have aspired suddenly appear before them in the faces and spaces that occupy their lives. Island Hill’s track “Dreams Become Reality,” in collaboration with Phonique, and subsequent music video, captures the human moments that beckon us to question, “What if?” “If only?” Yet, these works resolve upon the same moments which inevitably lead us to realize that we already possess everything and everyone we could ever want or need. It’s been right in front of us all along. The music video particularly captures a broad and stark set of natural and human landscapes that have shaped the recent lives of each collaborator on this track, but also illustrates the profound, human thread that supports such a simultaneously hopeful and futile gesture that is our shared drive and our shared obsession: the urge to create, to grow, to care, and to thrive, even in the face of the greatest obstacles of our imaginations and realities.
