A bit less than a week in the wild, unsung mountains of Racha–Takveri in north-western Georgia. Tent camp. Snow everywhere — the kind that makes you stop counting after the first couple of meters. A good mood that settles in after the first night and refuses to leave. Old friends, new friends, and that quiet understanding that forms when people share cold mornings and long climbs. Someone improvised a sauna out of nothing more than a tarp, stones and stubborn optimism. Steam rising into the freezing air while outside the valley sits silent under deep snow. No crowds. No lifts. No noise. The closest paved road lies somewhere far below — eight hundred vertical metres down the valley — which means the world of engines, schedules and notifications might as well be on another planet. Up here there is only the slow rhythm of the mountains: skin up, ski down, light the stove, eat, drink, sleep, laugh, repeat. Racha remains one of those rare places that still feels undiscovered — not because it is hard to reach, but because almost nobody bothers to come. Which, frankly, is exactly how it should stay.
