Mide Houlihan - Live From DeBarras Folk Club // Tues 22nd of December // 9pm (Irish Time) Míde Houlihan is a West Cork singer songwriter, who has captured the hearts of many an Irish audience over the last number of years. Míde won the IMRO ‘Christie Hennessy Songwriting Award’ in 2015, highlighting her as one of Ireland’s brightest prospects. Shortly after, Míde would release her debut album ‘Coloured In’, receiving an extremely warm reception from radio, media, and her ever growing fanbase, with most critics citing Míde’s honest, sometimes humorous, sometimes heart wrenching songwriting as a diamond in what can sometimes be a crowded scene. In 2018, Míde signed with Cork City based label, Unemployable Records. Her first release on the label was the EP, ‘Shifting Gears’, which was launched in a sold out Coughlan’s of Cork City, and followed by a hugely successful launch tour, which brought Míde and her band to such prestigious venues as Whelan’s/The Ruby Sessions (Dublin), DeBarra’s/Clonakilty International Guitar Fest (Clonakilty), The White Horse Sessions (Clare), and many more. Míde has since been sharing the stage with such names as Mick Flannery, John Spillane, Bill Shanley, as well as recently co-writing a song with Mick Flannery. The single, ‘Idle Words’ was released in August, and showcases Míde’s versatility as a songwriter, as she evolves as an artist, without forgetting her past work. With great momentum built up, and the song getting national airplay in Ireland and the UK, Míde then went on to do a fantastic slot at the Liverpool Irish Festival 2020. ”Her voice is beautiful, honest, and original; her style is delivered with a bit of attitude which belies her youth.” – Gary Hannon www.wearenoise.com ”Mide’s storytelling is lyrically spellbinding and easy to relate to” – Jessica Leen jessicaleenhighnote.wordpress.com Her single ‘You Know it’s Christmas Time’ (recorded with Bill Shanley in Cauldron Studios) received a great review from none other than Mick Hanly – ‘’I think we have a surfeit of syrup and goo already, but when you hear ‘Eastenders’ being rhymed with ‘preggars’ in a Christmas song setting well s***!… it’s time to tune in.’’ This project has been part-funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht Sport and Media from the Live Performance Support Scheme Tá an tionscadal seo páirt-mhaoinithe ag An Roinn Turasóireachta, Cultúir, Oidhreachta, Ealoíon, Gaeltachta, Spóirt agus Meán ón Scéim Cúnta maidir le Taibhléiriú Beo less
