Elizabeth Thinwa - A Kenyan Cowgirl's Dream Comes True in Waco, Texas

Elizabeth Thinwa grew up in Kenya, Africa on a small farm. After coming to America nearly 20 years ago and working in the computer technology industry, her dream was to own her own ranch and have cows again. Her dream came true when she purchased land near Waco, Texas. She has utilized NRCS technical and financial assistance to transform an overgrown mesquite thicket into high productive improved pasture for her herd of cattle. Local NRCS staff developed a conservation plan for her which served as the road map for her to utilize Environmental Quality Incentives Program funding to clear mesquites, plant grass, install cross fencing and install a livestock watering system. She proudly says she would not be where she is today without NRCS assistance and the agency has helped her dreams come true.
