Desert Journey: Trona Pinnacles to Goler Canyon | Meeting Locals in Ballarat, CA

Kenny Souza and I leave the Trona Pinnacles and head for thesemi-abandoned town of Trona, CA to refuel before heading to the Ghost Town of Ballarat. We take in the incredible view of the Panamint Valley from Slate Range Crossing summit on Trona-Wildrose Rd. In Ballarat we speak at length to the caretakers about the area and the difficulty of traveling the 4WD road to Goler Canyon. In Goler Canyon is located the famous Barker Ranch where the Charles Manson family hide out existed in the late 60's until Manson's capture in 1969. We camp at the base of the canyon after establishing that the "step" in the narrows is too difficult for our rigs to negotiate. We will visit the Barker Ranch via mt. bike in the next video.
