Hello and welcome to the March 2023 instalment of the Arkham666 show, or whatever the hell I’m supposed to call this glorious mess of a channel. Today we’re taking a longer than usual journey through multiple games in another entry in the Legends series. This time we are taking a deep dive into The Legend Of Ethan Winters and analyzing Resident Evil 7 and 8. In a move that surprised everyone back in 2017 Capcom cast a new and unheard of hero in Resident Evil 7 rather than bring back one of the existing giga chads. This average joe dragged the series kicking and screaming all the way back into its original survival horror form and brought the concept of chainsaw duelling to a new level. While Resident Evil 7 wasn’t the soft reboot I initially thought it was going to be, it was an incredible return to form for a series that had really begun to lose its sense of identity. Following on from this massive success Capcom came back with not only another Ethan Winters adventure but also a callback to one of the most beloved entries in the series, Resident Evil 4. With more experience and motivated to save his baby daughter from a fate worse than death Ethan takes on an entire Village of mutants and monsters led by a charismatic and larger than life group of villains much like Leon did back in the 4th game and will no doubt be doing again in the Resident Evil 4 remake.
