In this video, I get rid of the carbon buildup that is found on my intake valves. Most direct injection engines that have the fuel injector spraying fuel directly into the cylinder, will have problems similar to this and they need to be addressed from time to time. Since gasoline is not hitting the backside of the intake valves, there will be a decent amount of buildup and it will reduce fuel efficiency, engine responsiveness, power, and you may even run into problems like I did were I started to have a misfire. I was quoted well over $1000 to get this done at my local BMW/Mini dealer, and I can’t say that I had any intention to waste all of that money. This is a fairly easy procedure as long as you do the process correctly, just like how I’ve outlined in this video. The tools to do this will be less than 1/4th of the cost of what BMW wants to get this done, and then at the end of the day, you will have the tools to do it again down the road.
