This video shows how to set up a small basket center for the Diamond stitch. It also shows you how to do a Backstitch. I’m working on this diamond stitch so that I can learn how to do a candle in the window Stitch. I can’t find any instructions on it so I’m going to have to learn it myself. This basket starts out with a Wrapped coil, then the initial row has a straight stitch or regular stitch. Then you back stitch, creating an X on the top. That forms the bottom half of your diamond Stitch. When you start stitching through the X at the top, it starts forming your top part of the diamond stitch. Then you backstitch to complete your first set of diamond stitches. It was a little confusing for me at first but the more I did it. The more confident I felt. I am told it looks best on the side of a basket if you’re keeping the coils the same size. I did it on the bottom because I was making a training video. It still has a cool look, the diamonds are small towards the center and get larger as we go along. As I said in the video, it’s a lot easier if you just get a starter basket and try it! It made it easier for me. Thanks for watching.
