For the low beam, a GL 450 with halogen lights typically uses an H7 bulb. Ensure the vehicle is on a stable surface before starting any work. The specific steps can vary slightly depending on the exact year and model of your GL450. Steps to Replace the Front Light Bulb. 1. Securing the rear wheels and jack up the vehicle's front passenger/driver side, as needed or lock the steering wheel fully to the side opposite the headlight bulb you need to change. This will provide better access to the wheel well area. 2. Inside the wheel well, you'll find a panel or cover that needs to be removed. 3. Remove the plastic protective cover by turning it counterclockwise. 4. Remove the old bulb. Twist the bulb counter-clockwise about a quarter-turn and pull it straight out of its housing. 5. Wear gloves when handling the new bulb. Carefully insert the new bulb, ensuring it is oriented correctly with any grooves or pins. Twist the bulb clockwise a quarter-turn until it locks into place. An improperly seated headlight bulb causes a distorted, dim, or poorly aimed beam pattern, and may flicker or go out completely. Be careful not to touch the glass of the new bulb with your bare fingers, as the oils and grease can cause premature failure. 6. Reinstall the protective cap by twisting it clockwise and then reattach the wheel well cover. 7. Finally, test the new bulb to ensure it works properly. 8.
