This lecture, featuring speakers Major General Zhu Chenghu and Ambassador Shyam Saran, and chaired by Prof Kishore Mahbubani, looks at the potential contours that the China-India-US trilateral relationship might take under the new administration of President Donald Trump. These challenges include international trade and finance, climate change mitigation, global terrorism in the aftermath of the rise of ISIS (Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant), a reset of Russia-US relations, and the South China Sea conflict. The future of the American ‘Pivot’, orchestrated under the Obama administration, including new trans-regional trade arrangements as well as China’s pursuit of its One Road One Belt (OBOR) initiative may significantly alter with the new US administration. The public lecture is part of the closed door 6th Regional Security Roundtable. Held at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the Roundtable brings together eminent scholars and policymakers from China and India to discuss the challenges and possibilities of cooperation in the China-India bilateral relationship. ================================================ Major General Zhu Chenghu is Dean and Professor of strategic studies at the National Defense University (NDU), China.
