The Mihintale Temple in the ancient city of Anuradhapura is the third site among 16 places visited by Buddha in Sri Lanka. Over centuries, various kings built stupas containing relics of Buddha and Arahant Mahinda (son of King Asoka). This site served as a massive monastery for monks' practice since ancient times during Buddha's era. On October 22, 2024, Venerable Donguk, the chief monk of Buddagaya-sa Nirvana Shrine, made special offerings and paid respects at the great stupa containing Buddha's authentic relics and Arahant Mahinda's relics. It is said that numerous Buddhas and celestial beings join in prayer and bestow blessings during major Buddhist ceremonies or when offering robes at ancient temples and stupas containing Buddha's relics. These ancient stupas, protected by celestial guardians, are filled with powerful spiritual energy. Monks from Mahamevnawa monastery joined for special prayers. The chief monk of Mihintale welcomed them and allowed them to personally receive blessings from the authentic relics (which are only shown to the public once every 5 years).
