Just a long boring but hopefully educational video, with me talking showing how I do pour-over things and talking about my experiences with coffee / coffee gear. I was sent a new CremaLoop Slow Feeder for review / feedback, which came with the regular 8 hole feeder plate and I think 4 Hole Add-on Adaptor (blocks 4, leaving 4 open holes) but now I think they made the holes smaller and have more options including a 1 or 2-hole adaptor. I just taped up all but 2 holes and it seems to work well now that the tape stickiness has been reduced and beans no longer stick under the tape! Doesn't look too pretty though! For the P64 with SSP MP at lower RPM I feel like 2 holes is a good speed and maybe even 1 hole, but for a faster grinder like the DF83, the Standard 8 holes is probably just fine. For V60 Preheating I think it does actually work best if you use them while very hot, so pre-heating one this way might be more ideal than two at a time like how I do it here! Another way is to pour a LOT of boiling water, a larger smart kettle would be nice (Why is the Fellow Stagg only like 850ml!? Not even the claimed 900ml in reality) but still I don't want to waste my special re-mineralized brew water! I suppose I could do tap water in my 2nd kettle at a higher temp and that could work! I talked a bit about how I used to do 200F now doing more like 204f I think I do like the results with hotter temperatures better but it does depend on the coffee and other factors. I'm usually doing pretty light roasts with pourovers. With Plastic V60 I liked brewing cooler because I don't think hot water and plastic is a good combo! BUT I Do really like the results with the plastic V60 Tends to bring out more acidity / brightness. I talk a bit about the new and old Hario filters here, unfortunately they have different filter papers with the same name on it, the European made ones are apparently VERY SLOW draining and have more weird paper / chemical taste to it if my memory serves right from an older James Hoffman video. I only tried the Japanese ones and never really had issues with them stalling but these new (Also Japanese) ones with the green on the package seems to flow even faster / less likely to stall. Regarding The Commandante C40 I forgot to mention people were originally saying the 1zPresso K series was basically the same taste wise, but lately been hearing they're actually quite different. So I wanted to try it myself. When I was asking about an EK43 alternative (something with good linger and sweetness), a few people recommended the C40! Since then I've now tried the Commandante C40 and wasn't too impressed, it was fine but I didn't think it's very EK43-like. It was actually kinda similar to a grinder I already own and have been enjoying the Staresso Discovery II (Powered hand grinder type thing). Next I think I need to try the Kinu brew burrs in their hand grinder and 64mm SSP Brew Unimodal burrs or just find my own EK43 with pre-2015 burrs. The EK43 I had was on loan from a friend! I hear the 83mm SSP Cast (Lab sweet) burrs are supposed to be better than their 64mm size but I'm skeptical to invest so much in a burr I really disliked in 64mm! And I should probably try the Mizen burrs again too as I mentioned, I had them a while ago but at the time I thought I liked the clarity more on the SSP MP but now I've realized I value the longer linger and sweetness over a more clinical clarity, as long as you're not lacking clarity and coffee is defined nicely where you can tell the differences between coffees clearly and the flavours are not too blended together or obscured by bitterness. 0:00 CremaLoop Slow Feeder in Action. 1:13 Dual Ceramic V60 Pre-Heating 1:46 Inspecting Filter Physical Differences. 4:00 Regarding filter paper comparison I did previously 6:20 Filter Rinse Tip 7:00 Possible Testing Faults 8:40 Brewing 13:10 Alt Brew Adjustment Talk 14:00 Coffee Tasting 16:48 Sugar Rant! 17:49 MOAR Tasting as it cools (w/ Sugar) 18:40 Winner 18:50 Hario Old Vs New Filters 19:20 Coffee and EK43 Etc Burr Talk 25:07 Commandante C40 vs K series Talk
