Hey it's time to hear from the Maestro again...that deep sexy voice of his is guaranteed to raise the hairs on your neck. Don't believe me? Put your headphones on and get ready to get it on! The self professed king of baby making music found a way to melt the walls of indecision by talk singing in that magnificent bass voice of his. He began his career by writing and producing a song with Felice Taylor taking It May Be Winter Outside (But In My Heart It's Spring) that peaked at 42 in 1967. In 1970 he met the trio who would become Love Unlimited and had a hit with Walkin In The Rain With The One I Love. Shortly after that, Barry decided that he wanted to write a song for a man to sing and came up with I'm Gonna Love You A Just A Little Bit More Baby. As he was terrified of being the vocalist on the song, he denied having written anything to business partner Larry Nunes when he was asked if he had something. He relented and admitted the lie and went into the studio to complete his first album. Players on the track were Wah Wah Watson, Ray Parker, Wilton Felder, Dean Parks, Nathan East, Gary Coleman, Ed Greene and David T Walker. There were some rumblings about the finished product like there were only five overly long songs and then some label executives admonished White for creating substandard material. That all changed with rock legend Elton John got a hold of a dub of the album took it to London with the idea to promote it to his connections. Clive Davis of Columbia Records was going to pick up the LP for the US and when that was pointed out, 20th Century decided to release the album. As a result, the single I'm Gonna Love became his first No 1 R&B hit, spending two weeks at the top of heap.
