I have a bunch of decent microphones (AT4033a, AE3300, MXL V67G). Those Mics are fairly good for home recording, but for some reason, I was lately obssessed by the idea that if I could find a better mic for my voice, life would be easier and my recording wouldn't suck anymore. That is G.A.S in action. The problem with that kind of obsession, it keeps me away from the stuffs that I know would actually make my recording sounds better : audio recording skills, mixing skills, songwriting, song arrangement, vocal training, guitar practice, etc... But against any rationality, I keep thinking about those gears. I figured out if I want to stop obssessing about it, I just need to prove myself that the gear are not that inportant. Eventually if I find a game changer, that would also be cool. I ordered some mics that I will send back and did a test this weekend. I though I would share this. It's not rocket science and I dont mean to do a scientific experimentation or even a real MIC shootout so please dont come and argue about my testing methodology because my goal was to hear how my voice sounds through different microphones. Hope you'll enjoy this and maybe it will help you to fight your own GAS obsessions ;-) 00:02 Avantone CK-7 Cardioid mode (333 euros) 00:41 Fame VT-67 Cardioid mode (399 euros) 01:21 MXL V67G (about 100 Euros) Recorded with Logic 9 Plugin Waves CLA on the vocal Audio interface Audient ID14
