(19 Mar 2015) TANG WEI AND LAU CHING WAN REACT TO THEIR DIRECTORS' GUILD WINS The Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild named "The Golden Era" as Best Film at the annual dinner Wednesday (18 MARCH 2015,) with the film's director, Ann Hui, also winning in her category. Seven awards were handed out at the event, including Lau Ching Wan, who won the award for Best Actor for his portrayal of a thug in the financial thriller "Overheard 3." Lau, who has received a long list of accolades during his career, was especially excited about this one. "This award is very special to me because it's directors who voted," said the 51 year old actor. "This is the first time for me to receive an award here. It's very special because they're all directors. They're very professional. When you're shooting a film, you listen to the director and now, to receive this award, I feel very honored and happy." Best Actress winner Tang Wei shares the same feeling. She won for her performance in the Ann Hu film "The Golden Era." However, the "Lust, Caution" star hopes that more recognition of the film will follow. "We'll see," she said when asked if she now feels more confident going into the Hong Kong Film Awards. "I already got this award, I'm already very satisfied. I'm very happy. If the whole crew, the director and our film can receive more recognition, that would be something the cast and crew want." Other winners on the night included Best New Performer Ivana Wong and Best New Director Ruby Yang. A special award was handed out posthumously to cinematographer Chan Kwok hung, who drowned on the set of Jackie Chan's new film "Skiptrace."
