Hey adventurers, I’ll be taking you along the John Muir Trail, a 211 miles of breathtaking scenery, rugged terrain, and personal challenges through the heart of the Sierra Nevada. From Yosemite to Mount Whitney, this journey is about more than just the miles—it’s about solitude, self-discovery, and the raw beauty of nature and figuring out how to survive on way too much trail mix, coucous and tuna. John Muir played a key role in the preservation of wilderness in the United States, particularly in California. His passion for nature and exploration inspired a movement that helped shape the modern environmental movement and led to the protection of vast areas of American wilderness. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I’ve hiked the JMT Southbound from August 11th to August 22nd (12 days including a zero in Bishop) Resupply 1: Mammouth Lake Resupply 2: Bishop ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• •TIMESTAMPS 00:00 intro 0:58 Day 1 • Yosemite to Upper Cathedral Lake 2:28 Day 2 • Upper Cathedral Lake to Tousand islands 5:15 Day 3 • Thousand Island to Mammoth Lake 7:21 Day 4 • Mammouth Lake (Resupply 1) to Lake Isabella 10:03 Day 5 • Lake Izabella to Lake Mary 12:02 Day 6 • Lake Mary to Evolution Lake 14:57 Day 7 • Evoluation Lake to Bishop Pass Trail to Bishop 18:08 Day 8 • Zero in Bishop (Resupply 2) 19:48 Day 9 • Bishop Pass Trailhead to Palisade Creek 22:03 Day 10 • Palisade Creek to South Fork Wool Creek 26:05 Day 11 • South Fork Wood Creek to Bighorn Plateau 31:05 Day 12 • Bighorn Plateau to Mount Whitney ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The John Muir Trail: • Length: 211 mi (340 km) •Highest Elevation: 14,505 ft (4,421 m)- Mount Whitney •Lowest point: Happy Isles trailhead, Yosemite Valley, 4,035 ft (1,230 m) •Elevation change: 47,000 ft (14,000 m) ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I’ve used FarOut App as main navigation tool ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Filming Gear: •Camera: iPhone 15 Pro Max •Editing App: VN •Tripod: JOBY Gorillapod 1K Stand with Ulanzi ST-02S Aluminum Phone Tripod Mount I often hang the tripod on top of the end of one trekking pole to get a higher landscape view. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Intro Music track: "Angel Flight - Standard" By Emilio Merone Tunereel.com ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up, leave a comment, and don't forget to subscribe for more hiking adventures! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #johnmuirtrail #solohiking #jmt
