Way back in the ancient history that was early 2023, I recorded a tutorial demonstrating use of our FEI Helios G4 PFIB CXe dual FIB/SEM for S/TEM lamella prep using a Si test specimen. Well, since then (as may be expected) I've learned some new tricks and incorporated some new techniques and approaches, so I decided to record an updated tutorial. The video is actually two videos cut and spliced together: the first showing the prep process to the point of attaching the "to-be-thinned" (TBT) lamella to the grid, the second showing the final thinning process. The first video originally included the full prep process, but I was unhappy with the result after final thinning, so I cut the video up to that point, then extracted and attached a second TBT lamella (prepared essentially identically as the first one) and then recorded the final thinning process, which turned out much better than the original result (and I also feel is much better than the final result from back in late 2022). Aside from this minor (but noted) hiccup, this was all recorded raw, unedited, unfiltered, uncensored, and uncut (ha ha). Thank you for your support, my fellow EM aficionados (as we close in on 5,000 subscribers)! Please like, subscribe, and share and leave any questions or comments you may have and I will do my best to reply as soon as possible. Video topic requests are always welcome and appreciated; I enjoy making these videos and wish I could make them more frequently, but the demands of my job make it tough to do so; I’m in charge of three S/TEMs, two dual FIB/SEM systems (another to be added later this year), and half of an SEM and this keeps me very busy!
