EQUIPMENT Aerodynamic sill mouldings, body coloured bumpers, red bumper inserts, NACA bonnet air ducts, body coloured front spoiler and rear aerofoil, body coloured door mirror housing, black finish to B-pillars and rear panel, alloy road wheels, halogen headlamps, high pressure headlamp washers, integral driving lamps, body coloured sunroof, anti-lock brakes, power steering, electric aerial, sports front seats, driver's seat height adjustment, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), seven-function check control panel, tinted rear view mirror, electric windows, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors. EXTERIOR This astounding Astra GTE is finished in Vauxhall Glacier White (code 10L) and retains an incredible pure shine from the original factory paint. The vehicle has never received any replacement panels or welding work, and there is no rust on the car whatsoever. The paintwork is in flawless condition aside from a very small area to the lower front offside wing where the paint has rubbed thin. This can be considered the only extreme minor imperfection that can easily be rectified, but has been left unaltered in order to preserve the cars true originality. All bumpers, factory fit glass and lights are in perfect condition, as are the correct GTE 16V decals and badges. There is a light scratch to the nearside door mirror and a small touched in scratch to the offside door mirror. Upon raising the bonnet you are greeted with a truly exceptional engine bay, being standard and correct in every manner with all manufacturer stickers present. INTERIOR Trimmed in Rainbow and Anthracite arrangement with matching door cards, the correct specification for Glacier White GTE's. The seats and door cards are completely free from wear and deterioration, commensurate with the remarkably low mileage covered. The colour keyed velour carpet is beautiful clean, full and taut. The dashboard and incorporated switchgear is perfect and fully functional, including the factory fitted Phillips security coded stereo cassette player (model DC670). Further GTE specific equipment extends to the fantastic Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) instrument cluster and additional separate 7-function check control panel, both of which perform exactly as the manufacturer intended. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The 150PS C20XE engine with double overhead camshafts is one element that certainly set the Astra GTE 16v well ahead of its competitors. The engine was originally released in Europe where it developed 156PS (153.9 bhp), but when the GTE 16v arrived in the UK it was subject to stricter emissions regulations whereby a mandatory new exhaust manifold robbed the engine of 6PS, and gave a true output of 148 bhp and maximum torque output of 144.6 lb.ft. Top speed of 135mph is reached whilst 0-62 is dealt with in a mere 8.0 seconds. The 5 speed manual gearbox with final drive ratio of 3:42:1 feels positively tight and offer excellent progression up the range. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The white alloy road wheels fitted as standard to all Glacier White GTE 16v cars are in immaculate condition having suffered no damage or age related wear. The beautiful and delightfully period wheels are shod in the original fit Uniroyal Rallye 185/65/R14 tyres which have excellent tread remaining. The braking system incorporates 10.1in ventilated front discs and 10.2in rear discs and features electronic anti-lock brake assist (ABS) to install the utmost confidence for enthusiastic use, allowing the car to be enjoyed just as Vauxhall intended. HISTORY FILE This superb one owner vehicle was registered new on 8th March 1990 by company director Mr J English and promptly transferred into his private name after just three months of ownership, where it has remained ever since. The astonishingly low mileage 18,097 is fully supported and verified by absolutely every MOT certificate from new. All handbooks, service record, radio guides and Vauxhall supplements are present in the original grey plastic wallet.
