Suresh introduces TI's LM965xx 8-channel portable ultrasound transmit/receive chipset receive AFE, transmit/receive switch, transmit pulser, and configurable transmit beamformer, delivering image quality previously achieved only in larger hospital-based ultrasound machines. This high level of integration enables lightweight, increased channel count portable ultrasound systems with enhanced image quality and diagnostics in a small footprint. With increasing demand for accessible medical care, the need for portable diagnostic imaging equipment is growing. In response, medical technology solutions are becoming more portable, consuming less power, and delivering higher performance. For system designers who develop these high-end ultrasound devices, the complex signal processing has traditionally required many board-level components which demand not only a lot of space but a high level of power consumption, as well. With the industry?s first eight-channel transmit/receive chipset designed exclusively for portable ultrasound systems, TI allows designers to deliver high diagnostic image quality with low power consumption. The complete chipset includes a receive analog front end (AFE), transmit/receive switch, transmit pulser, and configurable transmit beamformer to deliver imaging quality in portable systems that to date has only been available with large, cart-based consoles.
