First Snow Hike of the Season! Expedition to the Kirishima Mountain Range, Straddling Miyazaki and Kagoshima Prefectures! November 30, 2024 We climbed Mount Shiratori in Ebino City, Miyazaki Prefecture. The Ebino Highland First Parking Lot (https://maps.app.goo.gl/XwYuKdYma9hCr...) costs 500 yen per day and offers restrooms and a boot washing station. While many hikers use this spot to begin their climb of Mount Karakuni, we opted for the Mount Shiratori course, which felt more like a forest stroll than a hike, due to reports of fog and strong winds at the summit of Mount Karakuni. Ebino Highland is situated at the base of the Kirishima Mountain Range, part of Kirishima Kinkowan National Park. Snowfall was first observed on November 28, accumulating about 5 cm on the 29th, transforming the area into a winter wonderland. The day we climbed, the summit area was covered entirely in white (including fog)! Mount Shiratori offers a gentle, beginner-friendly trail that feels more like a walking path than a traditional hiking trail. #Hiking #MountShiratori #KirishimaMountainRange #KirishimaMountains #SnowHike #ShiratoriPond #WinterHiking #EbinoHighland #Kyushu100FamousMountains [About Mount Shiratori (YAMAP)] https://yamap.com/mountains/14080 [Route] Ebino Highland First Parking Lot → Ebino Observation Deck → Mount Shiratori → Mount Shiratori North Observation Deck → Shiratori Pond → Ebino Observation Deck → Ebino Highland First Parking Lot [YAMAP Activity Data] https://yamap.com/activities/36281404 [Hikers] Sushi (https://yamap.com/users/2648937) Oimo-chan (https://yamap.com/users/3588294) [Blog] https://sushi-tozan.com/ Climbing Mount Shiratori.
