Robotics education is changing rapidly and some of us are falling behind. My present workplace at Texas A&M University in the ETID department is a leader in our nation for Multidisciplinary Engineering and our undergraduate courses on mobile robotics is at the core of this program. Although we have a reputation of leadership, we are no longer keeping up with the universities in developing countries like Malaysia. Today I'm showing the massive advancements we have made in training young engineers, where the students can produce novel working prototypes in only 6 months. The foundation of this success is good curriculum, purpose-built lab equipment, and teachers who prioritize learning together with the students. I feel my department at TAMU since 2020 has insufficient support, funding, resources, from the University as well as the professors. Each month I see new updates of the students successes in Malaysia that outmatch my local students in Texas, and I do not blame the students. My personal experience since 2020 in Texas has been entirely lacking in cooperation from my professors towards the goal of modernizing the curriculum for our Engineering Learners. If we do not change our attitudes, Texas will become a second-class source of capable engineers and innovators. SCUTTLE is a robotic platform for education and it's also an organization that I founded to spread our open source designs into educational sites around the world. I'm introducing two videos that originated from our SCUTTLE Asia team in Malaysia, dated Feb 2025 and December 2024 respectively, to show my colleagues in Texas. The videos are compiled into one movie so that I can offer context and prompt important actions from our educators here in the USA. I'm extremely proud of the students in Malaysia who I call "my students" because of their incredible work ethic and relentlessness in building brand new inventions using Robotics technology. My students in the video are all the ones who embraced the challenges using the SCUTTLE platform, actively retrieved all the necessary lessons published by my team of SCUTTLE collaborators. As of 2025, the investment to build the SCUTTLE Ecosystem have included all goodwill and zero outside cash investment. That's right, everything that was built in the video you see here was built without any private investors and only with the funds of the individuals directly involved. I never could have imagined this in my wildest dreams, when I put the name on this machine in 2018 and posted it online for free.
