During ‘Part One: Basics of Woodturning Bowls’ of the three-part ‘Woodturning Bowl Series’ I will begin with cutting blanks on a bandsaw, discussing the shape and design of a functional bowl and the different shapes of gouges, and the tools I use at the lathe. Then the real fun begins when I show how to cut the wood using various woodturning chisels including gouges and scrapers. I show my methods of mounting the blank to the lathe, shaping the outside of the bowl, and cutting the inside using various gouges and scrapers, and creating a pleasing foot on the bottom using a vacuum chuck. Below you will find the chapter timeline which will allow you to jump to any part of the video, making it easier to watch the segment of information you are looking for.
