Legendary 1970's Perth punk band The Victims play Disco Junkies - their final song from their final live show ever! And what a song and performance for a finale - to quote Dave Faukner "I think we have one more, but ït's a Doozy". The first two minutes is an awesome, fitting and expected last song for a great trio of musicians. Despite this song being first played around 45yrs ago, I would not have expected anything less. But then things start to go downhill .... into a dark and satanic abyss. At 2:06 Dave signals that they are not going down without a fight. And from then on, essentially the whole 3rd minute is completely fucked up - before it gets worse - at 3:55. Trying to briefly describe 3:55 - 4:25 is like summarising the bible in 100 words. If there was a competition for the most awesone, intense, perfect 30sec in Australian punk/rock music history, then this would get my vote. Dave has already been out on a tangent for the last two minutes seemilongly oblivious to both band and audience. James Baker does not skip a beat and is setting a relentless level of intensity that is only going to lead to trouble. And Ray Ahn - his pulse never got above 60 the whole time, as he was pushing Dave over the edge! If there was ever a training video to all bands on the way that they should approach their final performance then this would be it!
