Chana Dal Masala is a delicious and protein-rich Indian curry made with split Bengal gram cooked in a flavorful onion-tomato masala. This simple home-style recipe is perfect for everyday meals and goes well with rice or roti. Ingredients: Chana dal – 1 Cup water – as Needed cumin seeds – 1 tsp Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped) Tomato – 2 medium (finely chopped) Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp Red chilli powder – 1 tsp Coriander powder – 1½ tsp Garam masala – ½ tsp Salt – to taste Green chilli – 1 (optional) Kasuri methi – ½ tsp (optional) Fresh coriander leaves – for garnish Method: 1) Wash chana dal well and soak it for 30- 45 minutes. 2) Pressure cook the soaked dal with water and a little salt for 3–4 whistles until soft. 3)Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them crackle. 4)Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. 5) Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilli; sauté till raw smell disappears. 6) Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and oil separates. 7) Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and salt. 8) Mix well.Add cooked chana dal and adjust consistency with water. 9) Simmer for 8–10 minutes on low flame.Add garam masala and kasuri methi, mix gently, and turn off the flame. 10)Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
