Short clip showing what some of the trails at the Appalachia Bay Recreation Area at Lake Keystone in Oklahoma look like. The ORV area is located on a large peninsula in Lake Keystone. Terrain ranges from sandy beach to rocky woods and everything in between. You can ride all day and not hit every trail. The only detractor is that Razors and other UTVs are now trying to utilize the trail system, so you have to be on the lookout around blind corners. The riding area sees heavy traffic due to its proximity to Tulsa, OK. It is best to arrive very early and get your ride in before the crowds show up...especially if you intend to spend most of your time in the woods on the single track trails. Dirt Bikes and ATVs are most prevalent, but you will run across the occasional Razor or Mule. Sand is unavoidable and can be found unexpectedly in fast corners. The more interior trails on the peninsula tend to be more hard packed and fast rolling with the occasional rock garden and/or root section. There are multiple intersecting trails and a large number of blind corners, so you have to be on your toes for on-coming traffic, especially when large crowds are present. Overall - Great trail system with varying terrain in one area. Just beware of heavy use days.
