review of the #plamax #maxfactory #pacificrim #chernoalpha model kit in the 1/350 scale. Timeline: 0:06 - 0:34 = Figure's Box; 0:34 - 1:00 = Basic overview of sculpt and parts; 1:01 - 1:11 = Figure's size comparison with NECA figures; 1:12 - 1:33 = LED lights - Incinerator Turbines, chest etc; 1:34 - 1:57 = articulation and action features; 1:58 - 2:31 = Decals/ Stickers; 2:32 - 2:40 = Concluding thoughts; 2:41 - 3:11 = fan made posters of the Plamax Cherno model. Box: The box is pretty large and well secured - the individual plastic trays containing the parts and stickers are very protected. The images used of Cherno on the box are brilliant - Plamax have used one of the authentic promotional posters of Cherno for the movie - the jaeger marches forward in the Vladivostok wilderness with its right Z-14 Tesla fist in the spring-loaded motion and the left Incinerator Turbine beginning to shoot fire. Box cover also contains Cherno's emblem as well as the jaeger's concept art by the Pacific Rim design team. Bottom of box details specifics of Cherno Alpha's canon facts, such as the Kaidanovsky pilots, the Incinerator Turbines and Tesla Fists as the jaeger's weaponry and the jaeger's weight. Sides of box display various poses of the model kit and a side by side with Plamax's Gipsy danger. Model kit itself: contains various well labelled pats trays with each part having its own specific number (the instructions manual is predominantly in Japanese but some basic words are in English). The sticker decals come in their own packet - water based ones. Figure: Quite a complex build with some very small and fiddly parts - unfortunately I broke one of the left shock absorber compartment flaps on the chest section next to the conn-pod. Otherwise, all the parts fit perfectly without any fault and the plastic material is of a good standard that is pretty durable. The figure is slightly larger than NECA's 7 inch Cherno Alpha (Gipsy Danger in this case) but way smaller than the 18 inch one of course. LED lights: Excellent that the kit comes with LED lights on various parts of Cherno - authentic to the look in the movie and canon books etc (they require 3x LR44 batteries). Notably, the LEDs are for Cherno's two orange glowing shoulder mounted incinerator turbines (the flamethrowers); the main white headlight on his reactor dome; the orange light for the chest mounted conn-pod and white lights for the 4 chest mounted shock absorbers. they look awesome both in the light and dark - they are activated by a switch at the top of the reactor dome - you have to take the very top piece of cherno's reactor dome to do this each time. Articulation: If built correctly, the Cherno Alpha figure (except the torso/ head units), has excellent articulation. The fists come with two modes - punching or a gripping one with articulated fingers, meaning you can moving them independently. Elbows and upper arms have a range of motion as do the knees, feet and leg joints. All 4 shock absorbers can be opened and closed. To activate the Z-14 Tesla Fists' spring-loaded punching mechanic, you have to interchange the neutral fist mode by removing a few pieces and adding in the extended hydraulics - a bit annoying but it looks great. Stickers: A vast array of stickers that you SHOULD put on the figure - although it is irritating that you have to put them all on, it still nonetheless adds to the building value I guess. I would recommend doing the conn-pod sticker during construction, as there is really, no way of adding it on after you have completed the build. Overall: Positives: LED lights, articulation, build quality and authenticity. -Drawbacks: not painted, number of stickers, punching mechanism, some flimsy parts.
