Hello Flower Friends! I'm Ellen. Sign up for my FREE weekly newsletter (https://www.ellenfrost.com/join-now) for more flower fun! I write flower profiles, chronicle my flower adventures and share flower stories. In this video, I show you my must-have tools for floral design. Clippers are obviously essential. I use Sabotan 1210 and 1218 (https://www.amazon.com/Saboten-FBA_12.... I reserve these clippers only to cut flower stems and some small woodies. For larger woody stems I have a stronger shears from Fiskars (https://www.fiskars.com/en-us/gardeni.... For big branches I use an electric clipper by Rokrou (https://www.amazon.com/Rokrou-Electri.... If I need to cut wires, I have a separate cutter for that too. I use Oasis wire cutters (https://www.oasisfloralproducts.com/p.... Lastly, I use sharp fabric scissors for ribbon. Wire is another must-have tool florists use. I use a high-gauge, pliable wire for many purposes: keep stems straight, hand-tying wreaths, attachments in installations, etc. Flocked wire is a specialty product I use for head-crowns. The velvety coating keeps blooms from slipping. Finally, bind wire is the duct tape of florist tools. I use it to fix everything. Every florist has tape. Florist tape is special. It feels like paper until you stretch it. As you pull a resin releases so that it sticks to itself. This is perfect for bouquet wrapping. All of these products are available at floral wholesalers. Mechanics are the supports that keep your flowers in place in a vase. Water-proof tape, chicken-wire and floral frogs are my primary mechanics. I have a free resource: Beginners Guide To Foam-Free Mechanics https://www.ellenfrost.com/mechanicsg... Join flower friends on all my online flower spaces.
