Grow your own fresh, juicy blueberries in your garden with this comprehensive, step-by-step tutorial with RHS Horticultural Advisor Nick Turrell. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced gardener, this video will guide you through the process of testing your soil, planting and maintaining your very own blueberry bushes. 00:00 Intro 00:15 Choosing the right soil to grow your blueberries 00:37 Selecting the right size pot 00:56 What type of water do they like 01:07 Potting up your plant 03:07 Best blueberry varieties to grow in pots 03:20 How to maintain: sun, water, feed 04:25 Three things blueberries need to grow in pots 04:38 Outro Blueberries (Vaccinium) are small to medium-sized shrubs that make a decorative and productive addition to any garden. They produce small white bell-like flowers in spring, followed by succulent, dusky blue fruits in summer, and in autumn the leaves often turn attractive shades of yellow, red and purple. The main thing to remember is that blueberries need acid soil, with a pH of 4.5–5.5 – if you can grow azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias in your garden, blueberries should be successful too. Testing kits are easy to use and widely available in garden centres and in our online shop: https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/product/_... If your soil is unsuitable, simply grow blueberries in large pots of ericaceous (acidic) compost: https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/product/_... Blueberries like lots of sun and moist soil, so don’t let them dry out during the growing season, especially while flowering and fruiting. Birds love the berries too, so once they start to ripen, protect them with netting, or grow plants in a fruit cage. https://www.rhs.org.uk/fruit/blueberr... #FruitGrowing #GardeningTips
