PDEK and E-PDEK Soosan Jacob 4 36 min

In this video, I demonstrate the technique of PDEK (Pre-Descemet's Endothelial Keratoplasty). This technique was first described by Prof. Amar Agarwal. Unlike DMEK, the Dua's layer is also transplanted with the Descemet's membrane-endothelium complex giving added resilience to the tissue, preventing tears, allowing easier handling within the AC and most importantly, allowing the use of younger donor tissue. I have also translated the endoilluminator assisted DMEK (E-DMEK) technique described by me to endoilluminator assisted PDEK (E-PDEK) in this video for better graft visualization, three dimensional depth perception and better surgeon comprehension of graft morphology, positioning, dynamics and orientation even through hazy corneas.
