For sale in our Dallas/Fort Worth showroom is one knock-out 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The G-Body Chevrolets are some of the most popular cars to modify. However, so many of these cars are destined to be smashed on the side of a drag strip. This G-Body is something special. It has been the recipient of a 5 year complete frame off restoration with a simple goal in mind: be the best G Body around. It has it all, the show, and the go. The show part is easy when you start with an 87 Monte Carlo as the canvas. The House of Colors Galaxy Grey that drapes it has a subtle beauty to it, and it is finished off with a silver pearl clear coat. The attention to detail in this build shows through with the fuel cell in the trunk being painted to match. BG Old School chrome wheels give this Monte a fittingly old school feel, with 18x7 wheels up front, and 18x9 out back. They are wrapped in Nitto tires. Inside, the custom leather and suede ProCar Sportman racing bucket seats matches the exterior color, and are accented by red stitching. The dashboards of these cars are notoriously bland. That is why this car has been fitted with a set of sharp carbon fiber Autometer gauges, including custom mounted water temp, oil pressure, and fuel pressure gauges on the passenger side of the dash. With all of the pizzazz that the interior brings to the table, you could easily mistake this for another pokey show car, if it werenβt for the B&M ratchet shifter in the center console to remind you of what hides underneath. As mentioned, this car is not only about the show, but also the go, and a lot of it. If we were to measure the go, it comes out to around 502 cubic inches of it. Thatβs right, pop the hood and you see a 502 Big Block Chevy built by Pro-Formance Unlimited. The engine is decked out with Dart 325cc CNC ported and polished heads, a Comp hydraulic roller cam, Eagle forged crank and rods, SRP 10.5:1 compression pistons, Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake manifold, and a Holley 870 4 barrel carburetor. When it is all said and done, this beast cranks out an earth shattering 550+ hp. Those aforementioned Nittos wonβt even know what hit them when the skinny pedal hits the floor. Evacuating those 502 CIβs of air is a set of Hooker Super Comp ceramic coated headers, with a complete 3β stainless steel exhaust with Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers. That B&M shifter we talked about earlier is hooked up to a TCI built 700R4 with a 3,000 rpm stall converter, which then spins a Currie Ford 9β posi-trac rear end with 3.73 gears. Part of the point of this build was to make the car proficient at not only straight line racing, but also autocross. One drive, and that becomes extremely obvious. Name a suspension component, front or rear, and it is likely Hotchkiss, including the trailing arms, sway bars, and springs. Bringing all of this power to a halt is easily accomplished by the SSBC performance disc brakes, both front and rear. Trust us when we say this car handles like something at least 20 years its junior. It WILL surprise you with how it drives, and in a very pleasant way. This really is a do it all car, whether it be hitting the shows, the strip, or even the track. If you are a fan of G-Body cars, you will not want to miss this.
