"Tomorrow doesn't always come." Elaine's daughter Olivia attended A&E and said she had a plan to end her life. She was told to return the following day. In the end Olivia spent eight separate periods in hospital, but despite the enormous love and support of her family, she died by suicide. On this Children & Young People's Mental Health Week, Elaine wants you to know what her family's experience was like. The reality is that it was not good. We spoke with her at the recent launch of the Scottish Government's new Creating Hope Together suicide prevention action plan for 2026-29 at S.M.I.L.E Counselling in West Lothian. At Suicide Prevention Scotland we believe in the principles of Time Space Compassion and know that they can be applied in every setting, regardless of any challenges.
