In this video, Dean Anderson introduces the G9SP from Omron Automation. The G9SP is a stand-alone, configurable safety controller for small to midsize machines. The G9SP accepts inputs from almost all machine safeguarding devices with dry contact or solid state outputs. The G9SP provides a single safety monitoring device for all your machine safeguarding inputs thereby eliminating the need for multiple safety monitoring relays for specific devices. This reduces installation time, complex wiring diagrams and troubleshooting time. The Omron Configuration software allows you to define all aspects of the inputs and outputs to the unit as well as the simulating, testing and validating of your configuration with an easy to use graphical user interface. The G9SP configuration software also provides logical function blocks, timer & counter functions, and commonly used safety device function blocks. This provides you greater flexibility in the design of your overall machine safeguarding system. The software also allows the creation of user-defined function blocks for a specific sequence routinely used for your specific applications. There are 3 models of the G9SP safety controller ranging from 10 safety inputs and 4 safety outputs for the smallest unit and up to 20 safety inputs and 8 safety outputs for the largest unit. The G9SP can also be connected to standard Omron PLC expansion units for additional non-safety I/O. Additional modules are available that allow communication between the G9SP and the machine PLC via an Ethernet or serial connection. This communication allows you to efficiently monitor, diagnose, or troubleshoot the G9SP. An optional plug-in memory cassette also allows the quick download of programs directly into the G9SP controller. The G9SP is well suited for applications in the food, automotive, packaging and printing industries.
